MORNING AT ORCHARD WINERY
THE STORY: A new friend and artist buddy Jodi Brandt (who I met at an event at Santa Paula Art Museum), invited me to explore and paint this secret location one morning with her. Nestled in an orchard off South Mountain Road in Santa Paula towards Fillmore, this winery, Clos des Amis (circle of friends), is housed in an old adobe building under this incredible pepper tree. The light streaming, casting long gorgeous shadows. Off in the distance Santa Paula Peak, which I’ve hiked over often.
Walking around Santa Paula and painting the historic homes, people, mountains, trees, smelling the orange, jasmine and rosemary then looking up at the mountains that encircle this town, South Mountain and Santa Paula Peak I feel so close to my parents, and my brother David who are all now in heaven. It’s healing and cathartic.
I am thankful to my parents who in 1967 chose to move our family to this idyllic small town. My parents made a good choice and even though I spend part of my time in Puerto Rico, Santa Paula is always calling me home. I thank all of you who have helped me on my art journey and look forward to seeing how the future unfolds. The name of the winery #closdesamis translates to “small circle of friends”. Very appropriate I’d say. I know they sell their wine at the Santa Paula Farmers Market on Fridays.

Epson’s DURABrite Ultra pigment ink uses an exclusive Microencapsulation technology where each pigment particle is encased in a resin. A unique polymer pulls the particles apart, so they are suspended in the solution and never coagulate. The ink base then helps the DURABrite Ultra pigment particles penetrate the paper. DURABrite Ultra ink uses a specific technology to control the penetration level of the ink and keep the colorant near the surface and a special formula that creates more Vibrant & bright colored prints. Conventional dye-based ink particles are absorbed into the fibers of plain paper and are soluble in water. Pigment inks come at a higher cost than dye inks but you can feel confident in your investment that will last for generations.
