SNOW CAPPED
SANTA PAULA PEAK
I’m so honored to once again join with 55 artists whose paintings were selected for the “The 15th Annual Art About Agriculture Exhibition which opens Saturday November 11th. A premiere party from 4 pm to 6 pm will kick off the Exhibition at the magnificent Santa Paula Art Museum.
The majesty of the landscape vistas surrounding Santa Paula have always captivated me, maybe none more than watching the sun rise in the eastern Santa Clara Valley casting a warm glow on Santa Paula Peak. This view from across the valley atop Hospital Hill is one of my favorites. Whenever possible you can find me watching the day begin from this view over my hometown. This morning was the day after Christmas, the clouds lifted revealing an incredible sight: the peak adorned, freshly covered in thick white snow. The mixture of cool colors and shadows with the warm sunlit colors on the slopes intrigued me as I played with overlapping shapes, values, color and form. The beauty of the mountain with highland orchards nestled in the foothills with swirling organic rhythms and vibrations inspired this modern abstract yet representational landscape.
